Installation Repair for SigmaTel IrDA Adapter in Windows XP

 Step by Step

Uninstall the SigmaTel USB-IR Adapter software using the Add or Remove Programs feature in the Windows Control Panel

  Choose YES

• When the software uninstall is successfully completed the screen above will appear.  Click Finish
• Shutdown your computer (POWER OFF) 
• Remove the IrDA adapter
• Reboot to Windows
• Shutdown your computer (POWER OFF)  again
• Reboot to Windows once more
• Plug the SigmaTel IrDA adapter into a properly working Computer USB root port (not a port on a USB hub)
• WindowsXP will recognize the device and install the onboard default software

Open the Control Panel and choose Wireless Link

  Make sure all the function tab windows appear as in the screen shots below.

Select the Hardware Tab

Click on the Properties Button

Click on the Advanced Tab

• Highlight the VALUE for Infrared Transceiver Type
• Select Vishay 6102F from the drop down menu for the Value
• Click OK
• Close the Properties Windows
• Close the Wireless Adapter Window
• Close the Control Panel Window
• Shutdown your computer (POWER OFF)

Reboot to Windows XP, your IrDA adapter should now work correctly
