The FTDI US232 Eight Port USB
Adapter with FTDI silicon is a commercial quality device. Housed
in a strong plastic enclosure it is designed for commercial and industrial
applications. The unit self powered and comes with its own power
supply.
Our USB-8COM features a full
set of RS-232 modem data and control signals ( TxD, RxD, RTS, CTS, DSR,
DTR, DCD, RI, and GND ) on each of it's PC compatible DB9 male
connectors. USB-8COM has an internal 128 byte transmit buffer FIFO and a
384 byte receive buffer FIFO on each port. All ports support RS232 data
transfer rates of up to 230K bps
USB-8COM comes complete with
drivers for Microsoft Windows '98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows
XP. Drivers are also available for Apple OS-8, OS-9 and OS-X as well as
Linux.
Connection to USB is via 0.9m detachable USB cable.

USB Plug and Play allows
easy serial port expansion and requires no IRQ, DMA, or I/O port
resources.
Drivers for Microsoft Windows '98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows
XP are supplied on CD. Drivers are also available for Apple OS-8,
OS-9, OS-X and Linux. See below for drivers.

The download file is a combined set of drivers for all Windows '98,
Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Unzip the file to a blank
floppy disk or folder on your PC. You must un-install older versions of
the driver before installing the new drivers. To read our guide to

This edition of the VCP drivers is WHQL certified for Windows XP.
Please note - any alterations to the files including the INF files
will invalidate the Windows XP certificate. In practice, this will not
cause any problems other than the warning message displayed by Win XP
when installing uncertified drivers.

Linux Drivers
Drivers for FTDI devices have been
incorporated into Linux release 2.4.0 and greater. Note : these have been
only tested with single port designs ( US232, USB-COM and USB-COMi ) and
are not guaranteed to work with the multi-port USB-2COM and USB-4COM
peripherals.
